Rationale:

In my opinion, it‟s essential to assess students‟ learning level because it will help them to improve their skills in specific areas and will help the teacher to understand in which level the students are standing. Referring to my practical teaching experience in Mohammed Bin Khaled school, I noticed that the students‟ could gain new knowledge, but could not implement them when they answer questions in the exam paper.

Each classroom contains students with different levels, so It's not fair to deal with a whole class with an exam paper which fits one level only. Gardner (as cited in Smith, 2002) mentioned that in order to raise the knowledge production and acquirement, and mental development of children, a teacher must know the individualistic interpersonal intelligence levels and work according to them. In addition, one to one interviews can help teachers identify the individualistic learning styles of the students, hence that would help with preparing the suitable assessment which fit the students‟ levels. This could be carried out at the beginning of the year where the teacher assesses each student individually, and understands the different styles contained in a classroom. Also, on weekly basis, I can assign a class for one to one assessment where I prepare individualistic activities and call students one by one to answer few questions.

Strategies:

Summative assessments are means by which the teacher evaluates the students‟ standings against the expected learning outcome. In my teaching practice, I will use different forms of assessment to assure that the students gained the needed knowledge.

The means by which I will carry out assessment is by holding inclass discussions, quizzes, homeworks and projects. To help myself be fair, I will prepare rubrics with clear criteria to grade the students work. Moreover, to prepare fair assessment which fits all levels in the class, I will collect information about the students‟ levels with the help of checklists, comments and follow up discussion during classes.
